Allegory of New Zealand

A Wine Label Collage

By Valentino Monticello

Thus far, there has not been an Opera written either about or set in New Zealand. This Wine Label Collage is a representation of New Zealand . It clearly shows the north and south islands. It also shows the face of New Zealand's most famous Opera singer Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. There are also the outline of musical instruments as well as drums and drum sticks.

The wine labels used in this picture are from New Zealand. Unusually for Valentino's work, this wine label collage, exclusively uses one of New Zealand's most famous vineyard and brand names; that of "Nobilo's". The country's wine areas can be classified into nine regions; five are in the warmer but wetter north island; four are in the colder but drier south island.
